About Siberian Cats

It seems that most people who are allergic to cats do not have symptoms with a Siberian cat. However there are still a few that will still have allergic reactions. I do not guarantee them to be allergy free.

It is thought that the reason most people don’t react to these cats is because of the lower FEL D-1 level (the allergy triggering protein cats produce). However those with severe allergies may still have an allergic reaction.

The Siberian cat is gentle, friendly and loyal which are good with children and adjust well to other pets. They have moderately longhaired coats in various colors and patterns. They are originally from Russia; they were first imported into the United States in 1990 by Elizabeth Terrell of Starpoint Cattery. They were imported into Australia in 2002 by Marie Mahoney of Miakoschka Siberians near Brisbane.

The Siberian is a medium to large cat with the overall appearance of excellent physical condition, strength and power, modified by a sweet facial expression. The general impression of the body is one of circles and roundness. Siberians are slow to mature, taking as long as 5 years to reach full maturity. Female are smaller than the males, with the females weighing approximately 8 to 10 pounds and the males at approximately 14 to 16 pounds.
